Amgen Senior Manager Supply Chain in West Greenwich, Rhode Island
The Senior Manager Supply Chain will be responsible for managing the Production Planning, Scheduling, and Capacity Modeling department and is part of the Supply Chain Leadership Team at Amgen Rhode Island. Amgen Rhode Island is a large scale multi-product GMP manufacturing facility responsible for commercial and late stage pipeline production. The Production Planning, Scheduling, and Capacity Modeling department is responsible for establishing the production schedules for both ARI and AWM aligned with product demand. Additionally, the team also manages the finite schedule and capacity modeling for ARI which provides a detailed plan for daily manufacturing and maintenance activities in the production facility and analyzes performance to continually increase plant capacity by identifying de-bottlenecking opportunities.
Providing leadership for production planning (ARI and AWM) and finite scheduling and capacity modeling (ARI)
Collaborating with Global Supply Chain to analyze product demand and recommend actions to ensure supply for both pipeline and commercial products
Analyzing and proposing approaches to optimize product supply in-line with financial goals (minimized scrap and cycle times with optimal inventory levels)
Leading continuous improvement of department practices utilizing Operational Excellence tools and techniques (Lean manufacturing)
Leading development and execution of strategic initiatives for ARI (increase plant capacity, improve new product introductions, enable agile operations, etc.)
Supervising, coaching, hiring, and developing staff
Establishing department mission, translating vision, engaging organization, and delivering team results
Ensuring department effectively delivers to short and long site operational goals
Sharing and adopting best practices across the Global Supply Chain network
Representing ARI and AWM on Product Delivery Teams
Doctorate degree and 2 years of Supply Chain or Operations experience
Master's degree and 6 years of Supply Chain or Operations experience
Bachelor's degree and 8 years of Supply Chain or Operations experience
Associate's degree and 10 years of Supply Chain or Operations experience
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Supply Chain or Operations experience
2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources
Preferred Qualifications :
Strong continuous improvement mindset and lean practices
Advanced degree in Industrial Engineering
Six Sigma Green/ Black Belt or equivalent
Strong ERP knowledge
APICS / CPIM certification or equivalent
Experience with staff and team development, performance management and managing and coaching
Experience in a highly regulated organization, cGMP or other, including advancing compliant operations and in-depth business understanding of manufacturing or operations in biotechnology / biopharmaceuticals / pharmaceuticals industry
Strong leadership, negotiating, partnering, influencing skills
Able to positively advance the culture of an organization
Budgeting, goal setting, and familiarity with financial practices
Strong risk-based decision-making skills
Fundamental project management skills
Experience on cross-functional teams, preferably in a leadership capacity
Ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization (staff and management).
