The Team:

The Sourcing Excellence Manager (based in Uxbridge, UK or Breda, Netherlands) will be part of the Global Strategic Sourcing (GSS) department. The role will report directly to the Head of Sourcing Excellence Ex US (based in Breda, Netherlands). The Sourcing Exceleence Ex-US team has 2 resources in Breda, Netherlands and 2 in Uxbridge.

The Role:

The Sourcing Excellence Manager works closely with the Global/Regional Category Managers and is responsible for executing the category sourcing processes within the EMEA, Americas and JAPAC regions. Work is guided by operational and project related objectives.

Responsibilities

Implementation of regional sourcing strategies across International markets

  • Lead sourcing execution through to implementation

  • Support supplier analysis and market intelligence activities

  • Manage Request for Proposal and Quotation processes (eRFX)

  • Document (in Ariba)

  • Communicate to Global Category Manager local and regional requirements impacting category strategies

  • Implement supplier improvement programs within key supplier relationships

  • Implements new procedures and processes to drive desired results

  • Ensure sourcing tactics drive value in specific functional business environments, including legal & regulatory context

Supports Global/Regional Category Manager and Country Sourcing Managers

  • Understands business goals and interprets customer needs to identify potential opportunities while providing training and guidance

  • Partners with colleagues in Finance and all other Function Heads as appropriate

  • Support / Manage delivery and validation of savings

  • Anticipates and prevents potential problems through root cause analysis

Managing contracts:

  • Ensure Amgen's procurement policies are followed, ensuring that compliance metrics are met or exceeded, supported through preferred supplier contracts

  • Inform stakeholders on Amgen's sourcing policies and procedures, providing support and corrective actions where required

  • Lead contracting with new suppliers

  • Ongoing contract management (Renewing and Renegotiating existing and expiring contracts)

Basic qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with extensive experience of management consulting or strategic sourcing experience OR Master's degree, experience of management consulting or strategic sourcing experience, with experience in working in international environments

  • Has solid understanding of sourcing processes (tendering, supplier negotiations and contracting) across multiple countries, across multiple spend categories

  • Market Research, Agency, Meetings, Fleet, Contract Sales, IT and Professional Services

  • Applies analytical skills to evaluate and interpret complex situations using different information sources in order to draw and present analytic insights

  • Fluent business English, written and oral

  • Excellent communication skills (presentation, virtual team development, etc) resulting in relationship building and development

  • Willingness to Travel

  • Highly proficient with MS Office Suite, including Excel

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Competent in Project Management and independently develops practical solutions (Planning, prioritizing and delivery), with experience in leading project teams across geographic and functional reporting lines

  • Problem solving skills

  • Ability to provide thought leadership to customers and actively shape customer's overall strategy while understanding business goals

  • Able to work with minimal direction, ensuring quality of tasks / service provided by self and other

  • Experience using e-procurement tools such as Ariba

  • Emerging market and greenfield operations experience
