In this key role as a Supplier Performance Management (SPM) Manager supporting the Therapeutic Discovery function, you will help us exceed productivity goals and deliver against our operational goals. Our scale is global and supports all our Research sites around the world.

The Role

You will be responsible for executing the functional strategy within our research portfolio; your focus will be to efficiently execute key supplier management strategies with the function as well as identify opportunities for improving the process and tools. To achieve this, the manager is a creative problem solver with a strong background in chemistry, biology, and logistics who can deliver meaningful results that drive productivity and efficiency. Some of the position's key responsibilities include participating in the following activities:

  • Maintain effective supplier performance management strategies in the assigned categories. This includes development and oversight of scope of work, budget (purchase orders, invoicing, and forecasting)

  • Maintain awareness of the global external supplier pool and latest technical advancements

  • Evaluate supplier technical capability, capacity and risk

  • Provide ongoing oversight and work placement recommendation to the functional decision makers using a fit for purpose approach

  • Develop and maintain supplier Key Performance Indicators, monitor metrics and escalate issues as appropriate

  • Oversee weekly shipping logistics, data distribution, and compound registration

  • Onboard new FTEs with systems access and electronic laboratory notebook accounts

  • Develop and maintain relationships with key internal stakeholder to support and proactively respond to business needs

  • Collaborate with Global Strategic Sourcing staff to support R&D wide sourcing and productivity initiatives

  • Ensure adherence to corporate procurement guidelines; oversee the contract to pay process

  • Use and familiarity with a variety of tools such as SharePoint, document management systems, planning systems

Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree and 3 years of scientific operations management experience

ORBachelor's degree and 5 years of scientific operations management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and functional expertise in R&D, particularly synthetic organic chemistry or immunology

  • Degree in Chemistry or Biology

  • Experience in managing external suppliers and internal stakeholders

  • Proven project management experience

  • Excellent user of Office Programs such as Excel, Word, Powerpoint, OneNote, Outlook

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and experience navigating a matrixed organization

  • Working knowledge of document management applications and study planning tools (eg. Planisware, Documentum, etc)

  • Familiarity with analytics software such as Microsoft Access, Spotfire, Tableau, Smartsheet

  • Experience managing virtual teams and using collaborative tools and platform

  • Ability to develop collaborative internal and external relationships

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and critical thinking skills
