Amgen Strategic Planning & Operations Director -- Global Product Strategy & Commercial Innovation in Thousand Oaks, California

The Strategic Planning & Operations Director for Global Product Strategy & Commercial Innovation (GPS&CI) is responsible for driving execution and performance for strategic imperatives, behavioral objectives and tactics. The Director is the leader and facilitator of cross-therapeutic area, cross-functional and cross-regional communication and alignment of key initiatives, such as driving innovation, commercialization, the Amgen operating model, capabilities evolution, prioritization and resource optimization as well as therapeutic area (TA) strategies.

The Director is also a key liaison with the regions on relevant pipeline assets and business development opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the activities of Global Commercial Committee (GCC) including agendas (aligned with Portfolio Governance (PG)), best practices, follow up and metrics to assess performance (decision making, commercial alignment)

  • Administer the activities of the Commercial Licensing Committee (CLC) and work with Corporate Development to ensure alignment with External Landscape Review Meeting (ELRM) and Deal Review Committee (DRC)

  • Lead cross-functional and cross-regional Global Marketing strategic initiatives (innovation, capabilities evolution, prioritization and resource optimization, TA strategies, goal setting, launch planning, budgeting and portfolio management)

  • Partner with Development (Commercialization and R&D Compliance (CRDC)), Regulatory and Operations on planning and commercialization activities

  • Represent GPS&CI on cross-functional task forces and escalate key issues to SVP, GPS&CI and/or members of the Leadership team

  • Working with the SVP, manage the activities of the GPS&CI Leadership team, planning calendar, and key events throughout the year

  • Track and manage GPS&CI resources, including headcount, and budget, partnering with Finance & Human Resources

  • Represent GPS&CI on compliance committees and the implementation of SOPs and training

  • Lead a team responsible for the GPS&CI budget as well as GPS&CI compliance

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 4 years of project management experience

OR

Master's degree and 7 years of project management experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 9 years of project management experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project management experience in the commercial operations area within a biopharmaceutical company

  • Sales and/or marketing and/or consulting experience in the biopharmaceutical industry

  • Strong advocacy and communication skills

  • Ability to lead and manage projects from concept to completion
