Amgen is seeking a Specialist Information Systems (IS) Solutions Architect located in Thousand Oaks, CA. The Analyst will report to the Director of Information Systems.

The IS Architect will work within the Operations IS (OIS) group to support the Process Development business organization with a focus on Data Integration. The Architect will contribute to the success of Operations IS functions by providing Solution Design and Architectural guidance around integrations with Key Operations' systems. The Solution Architect Role in OIS will provide direction around the path forward for integrations with systems like PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), Holistic Lab (a Laboratory management system), PI, and a host of other systems in the Operations' space. The Architect will be responsible for making fundamental improvements in how the integrations are managed and how Amgen's PD and Operations users can optimally utilize the data in the Enterprise Data Lake for analytics. The Architect will attend strategic cross-functional meetings to facilitate the optimization of processes through implementation of solutions that enable enterprise-wide information knowledge management.

The Operations Information Systems team supports the Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Process Development functions to ensure they have the systems and processes necessary to supply lifesaving products to Amgen's Patients around the globe.

Responsibilities:

Actively engages with business users to analyze business needs, gather and document business and solution requirements around integrations with Data Sources

Works and collaborates with Amgen's IS Architects in the Analytics and Knowledge Management team that supports Enterprise Infrastructure and Big Data platforms and vendors to determine the best technical solutions for OIS

Provide solution architecture for integrations with Core Operations' systems

Research COTS tools and technologies to determine the best fit for Amgen's use cases in line with Amgen IS directive to move to cloud and use AWS solutions

Research and design optimizations to the existing architecture and provide recommendations in line with moving from Cloudera stack to S3 for ingestion, storage and analytics

Collaborate with IS Architects and System Owners to design an integrated solution across PLM, ERP, HLEE, document management, and other lab execution systems

Work with the integration solution architects and designers to design integrated solutions across systems within the company environment - e.g. data flows. Review project deliverables throughout development to ensure quality and traceability to requirements and adherence to all quality management plans and standards. Participate in quality management reviews

Manage the backlog of requirements/user stories and oversee EDL (Enterprise Data Lake) integration specifications

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 3 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Big 4 consulting experience

Solid understanding of Big Data Concepts and Technologies

Solid experience and understanding in areas of data modeling, data quality, data management strategy to support business needs, data access methods, and approaches in the pharmaceutical industry

Experience and familiarity with solutions on AWS - Cloudera/Data Bricks/Kafka experience preferred.

Solution Design and Architecture Design experience in the Big Data space - specifically architecture around integrations with a wide variety of data sets - structured and unstructured

Experience with Search technologies and Reference Data concepts

Experience with Reporting and Analytics - Spotfire / Tableau experience

Experience with scripting in Python and R to provide guidance to PD users well versed in scripting within the Analytics Tools

Good overall understanding of business, manufacturing, and laboratory systems common in the pharmaceutical industry, as well as the integration of these systems through applicable standards

Understanding of FDA regulations governing computer system validation and operation in biotech manufacturing and laboratory areas

Ability to translate the enterprise's aspirations for information sharing into the reality of detailed actions in the laboratory, quality, engineering, manufacturing, and IS organizations
