Amgen Senior Associate Strategic Planning & Operations - Business Analysis & External Process Development in Thousand Oaks, California

Process Development is responsible for enabling commercialization of the product pipeline, product lifecycle management, and technical manufacturing support of Amgen commercial products. The Business Analysis and External Process Development group was created to drive Process Development to be a more effective, efficient, and value-driven organization. The Business Analysis and External Process Development group is responsible for business analysis, development sourcing strategy and execution, resource and budget planning, and performance management for Process Development.

The Senior Associate will drive strategic and financial analyses to provide executive guidance to the Process Development senior leadership. Working with our business partners and PD functional groups this person will also develop and manage key communications within Process Development.

Responsibilities include:

Develop business cases on product lifecycle management, new investments, and continuous improvement opportunities considering strategic, financial, and risk tradeoffs

Perform business and resource forecasting, financial modeling, and trend analysis to drive decisions

Monitor total capital, spend, and headcount against annual budget and resource plans

Develop communication materials (e.g. operating reviews), and communicate analysis and recommendations to PD senior management

Create tools and build capabilities to allow end-to-end line of sight into resource allocations and gaps, and allow senior leadership to make decisions in real-time

Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree


Bachelor's degree and 2 years of project management experience


Associate's degree and 6 years of project management experience


High school diploma / GED and 8 years of project management experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in engineering, science, or business management with 1+ years of related experience in the life sciences industry


Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or business management with 3+ years of related experience in the life sciences industry

Demonstrated understanding of life sciences industry, and drug development and commercialization

Strong quantitative and analytical skills including familiarity with finance and accounting terms

Demonstrated ability to structure, pragmatically scope, and solve complex problems

Financial, statistical or mathematical modeling experience

Ability to communicate and collaborate cross-functionally in an organization

Strong writing, presentation, and interpersonal skills

Good working knowledge of MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Spotfire

Self-starter with a high-level of comfort with ambiguity and complexity
