Amgen Sales Planning Sr. Manager - Oncology in Thousand Oaks, California

Responsible for the development, coordination and measurement of strategic sales programs, which impact the effectiveness of the sales organization, including incentive systems, development, deployment, communications, Plan of Action (POA) execution, performance management, productivity activity, and monitoring budget/expenses for the sales organization.

  • Evaluates and updates MAP (sales performance) objectives, incentive programs and quota methodology. Coordinates sales compensation analysis, design and administration. Collaborates on implementation of sales tracking and results measures.

  • Conducts extensive analysis of current and future organizational structures, including development of department staff roles and expectations.

  • Analyzes sales force structure, design and alignment. Makes recommendations for enhancements.

  • Coordinates sales management training programs and development of field sales staff.

  • Drives sharing of best practice process to enhance sales performance.

  • Generates detailed monthly reports on current sales challenges supporting executive management briefings.

  • Assists marketing and POA team in the development of integrated semester plans and meetings.

  • Coordinates and assists with monthly estimate meetings, quarterly product business reviews and market summaries, as well as sales management staff meetings.

  • Makes recommendations to management on improving sales effectiveness.

  • Represents the department in working across BU's and with sales administration, human resources, product development team, research, medical affairs, Corporate Accounts segments, and product launch team managers.

  • Collaborates with Finance Department and Brand Team on the annual budget/LRP process.

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree & 2 years of Sales & Marketing Operations experience


Master's degree & 6 years of Sales & Marketing Operations experience


Bachelor's degree or & 8 years of Sales & Marketing Operations experience


Associate's degree & 10 years of Sales & Marketing Operations experience


High school diploma / GED & 12 years of Sales & Marketing Operations experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • District Management experience

  • Strong planning, analytical, leadership, administration and project management skills

  • Thorough understanding of selling and sales management

  • Ability to successfully manage multiple projects at once

  • Well organized
