Amgen Process Development Scientist in Thousand Oaks, California

Amgen's Attribute Sciences group within Process Development is seeking a Process Development Scientist. The Process Development Scientist will be responsible for the strategy, execution, analysis and communication of product attributes with a focus on particles. In addition, the candidate will help to drive the development of new strategy, understanding, and analytical methods, and communicate these outcomes within Amgen network and externally.
The Process Development Scientist will lead the efforts towards the understanding of various drug product attributes, and developing the strategy and methods to control and measure them, with a focus on the particles attribute. The Scientist will collaborate with representatives from key functions within Process Development, Manufacturing and Quality. Long term goals include driving Amgen's understanding and strategy towards acceptance by regulatory agencies.
Master's degree and 4 years of Scientific experience
Bachelor's degree and 6 years of Scientific experience
Excellent leadership skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills for the timely documentation, presentation, and discussion of science based results and strategy in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, team-based environment
Advanced understanding and extensive hands-on experience in various drug product attributes and analytical platforms, with a focus on particles. Knowledge and experience with process development, formulation development, raw materials, and process reagents
Advanced ability to propose and lead new scientific imperatives/initiatives. Strategic thinking and expert experience in attribute understanding
Expert in an investigational or development laboratory setting within a pharmaceutical or biotechnology company. Advanced ability to drive and influence the investigational process
Advanced experience in working closely with scientific and manufacturing disciplines across process development, clinical, and commercial operations. Knowledge and experience interacting with industrial peers and agencies
