Amgen Principal Software Design Engineer in Thousand Oaks, California
Amgen is in search of a Principal Software Engineer - Customer Engagement, and will work from our corporate headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA. The Principal Software Engineer report directly to the Director, will work directly with Amgen's Business Clients to integrate cloud platforms, DevOps, automation, data analytics, and DataOps engineering to deliver industry leading solutions to our business partners. These solutions must address the business values of providing more effective, faster, higher quality, and lower cost capabilities to our business clients in their efforts to deliver effective medicines to patients.
The incumbent will focus on working directly with client teams, interacting, consulting, training, and helping them develop and design early phase DevOps and DataOps best practices, in their new or existing project and/or product initiatives using Amgen's standard DevOps framework. Potential candidates should have a strong background working in software development teams and have experience in contemporary DevOps best practices using CI/CD test frameworks, open source development tools, and agile development practices. Client teams range from sales and marketing to early phase drug research and development and drug safety analytics. The successful candidate will have experience in open source monitoring, frameworks, tools, and languages, and in public cloud development experience using AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and/or Azure.
Job Responsibilities :
Help teams understand and use CI/CD tooling and services using Git, Jenkins, JIRA, Nexus, SonarQube, J-unit, Selenium, Ansible, etc.
Lead the effort to design, build, and develop Proof-of-Concept (POC) solutions and services that will rapidly and iteratively prove the concepts being considered and rapidly integrate them into the production frameworks
Provide expertise to teams to create infrastructure-as-code that is scalable, performant, reliable, and secure. Help implement and manage a containerized microservices infrastructure, delivering CI / CD for new applications on AWS and other cloud platforms
Help teams implement and maintain monitoring & alerting systems using the standardized monitoring services available in the DevOps framework for production and test environments
Improve the development pipeline best practices for both COTS and custom development environments from local development to production. Help implement, maintain, and test HA, production, and disaster recovery plans using contemporary cloud best practices
Assist and help data scientists and data analytics teams use and embrace DataOps principles and best practices for code check-in, reuse, testing, and data management
Be an integral member of the core DevOps/DataOps development team and help develop, test, deploy, and operated the service 24x7x365 globally
Doctorate degree and 2 years of Product Development experience
Master's degree and 4 years of Product Development experience
Bachelor's degree and 6 years of Product Development experience
Associate degree and 10 years of Product Development experience
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Product Development experience
