Amgen Marketing Sr Mgr, Speaker Bureau Lead, Oncology in Thousand Oaks, California

The OBU Speaker Bureau Lead is the single operational and strategic lead for coordinating all of the Oncology Business Unit's Speaker Bureau activities. The Speaker Lead will cover nine (9) different brand speaker programs, each of which require their own bureau to match the content and needs of the programs. The Speaker Lead will be responsible for coordinating with all external vendors involved in operationalizing the programs to support the nine brands. This will entail close collaboration with internal stakeholders, including but not limited to the sales force teams, the Regional Marketing Managers (RMMs), internal Brand Marketing Teams, Compliance Department, and our US Medical Teams. The Lead will also be responsible for managing and tracking the budget for these programs across all brands, reporting on a quarterly basis the existing and projected spend to ensure goals are met. Paramount to this role will be ensuring that all of Amgen Inc.'s compliance policies and standards are followed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate regularly with the field various program updates and report on the execution of the budget and strategy of the various programs

  • Facilitate and triage ad hoc speaker program challenges across internal and external stakeholders to meet customer needs

  • Oversee, contract and execute on the Brand Team's selection of the most effective speakers for the brands' needs

  • Ensure adherence to all compliance requirements

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Opinion Leaders - communicate with them to gain feedback on content and coach them on compliance for each project

  • Collaborate with cross functional internal partners to execute live/remote training sessions according to brand strategy and compliance standards for each of the brands

  • Collaborate across the US Business Organization with other Speaker Bureau Leads to manage the speaker bureau vendor, ensure the OBU needs are being met, and triage any issues

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of business experience


Master's degree and 4 years of business experience


Bachelor's degree and 6 years of business experience


Associate's degree and 10 years of business experience


High school diploma / GED and 12 years of business experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of demonstrated sales leadership and customer-facing experience, particularly with Opinion Leaders

  • Excellent cross functional team leadership skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Previous experience in oncology

  • Previous demonstration of effective, solution-oriented problem-solving skills
