Amgen Manager - Reporting & Analytics in Thousand Oaks, California

Amgen is seeking a Specialist Information Systems (IS) Business System Analyst to function as a Manager - Reporting & Analytics at its main headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA to join the Global Data Management & Analytics organization and will be responsible for implementing reporting and analytical solutions across the portfolio of Global Data & Analytics technologies and platforms. The Manager Reporting & Analytics will report to the Senior Manager Information Systems and will partner closely with the global and regional Commercial business and IS stakeholders.

The Global Data & Analytics (DnA) IS team is responsible for managing and implementing global & regional data management, analytics, reporting technology solution & service capabilities. This team collaborates with regional and affiliate business teams to maximize synergies and enable data and analytics capabilities.

Key Activities for the Manager Reporting & Analytics include :

  • Partner with affiliate business and IS stakeholders to support evolving business needs & translate them into technology solutions, serving as a liaison between regional business stakeholders & vendor teams

  • Drive prioritization, delivery and status reporting of activities and initiatives across the Commercial Data Analytics project portfolio

  • Lead the technical design, implementation and support of key business initiatives in data visualization and analytics using analytical platforms like Tableau

  • Manage, understand and analyze data for trends, patterns, and failure points, and drive data stewardship to maintain data quality

  • Partner with business clients to develop and manage service level agreements, provide service KPIs and ensure ongoing application stability

  • Manage a team of external workers delivering support services to DnA portfolio along with prioritization of their day-to-day activities

  • Work with system integrators, system vendors, and project team members to advise them on key architectural decisions to support standard technologies

  • Create appropriate standards, processes and tools to promote and facilitate a consistent approach for data and analytics focusing on generating business insights

  • Keep track of industry and technology trends, connect and foster external networking opportunities to deliver valuable insights from other similar professionals in our industry

  • Travel: Domestic and International travel up to 15% may be essential

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree

OR

Master's degree and 3 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry with focus on data management, reporting and analytics

  • Excellent influencing skills, with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with key business partners, IT leadership teams, and external service providers

  • Ability to clearly communicate data stories to variety of audiences; maintain a balanced and client-focused attitude to drive delivery for our business partners

  • Experience with support operational model and complete project life-cycle in data & analytics area, including but not limited to requirements gathering, data analysis, design, development, and testing and data validation

  • Experience implementing Analytics solutions using Big Data and Cloud based solutions levering all phases of SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle) and use of agile methodology

  • Good understanding of data modeling and data warehousing concepts and advanced understanding of analytics and visualization tools (e.g. Tableau)

  • Working knowledge of using algorithms (including R, python) and applying new and innovative ways of solving data problems leveraging AWS/Redshift & Cloud technologies

  • Experience with different types of data sets including, but not limited to, Multi-channel & Sales (both small and large including publicly available datasets)

  • Solid business acumen, understanding of what are the key business drivers that will generate desired results

  • Strong interpersonal skills as well as excellent verbal, written communication & presentation skills
