Amgen Manager Information Systems - Business Intelligence & Reporting in Thousand Oaks, California
Amgen is seeking a Specialist IS (Information Systems) Business System Analyst to function as a Manager IS - Business Intelligence (BI) & Reporting in its main headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA that will develop and implement solutions, services and capabilities to support Amgen's Global Medical business function. The IS Manager will report to the Senior Manager of Information Systems, Global Medical, and will be a part of the larger IS team supporting Amgen's Global Medical, Commercialization, Business Development, and R&D Compliance functions.
The IS Manager - BI and Reporting acts as an intermediary between the business and the technical communities working with IS project teams and business clients to collect, clarify, and translate business needs into documentation and conceptual design (using appropriate tools and models) from which solutions are developed. The role will be responsible for implementing reporting & analytical solutions across the portfolio of scientific data technologies & platforms.
Key Activities for the IS Manager will include:
Partner with business stakeholders, internal teams, vendors, and other partners to manage the Reporting service - SLAs, service KPIs and ensure ongoing application stability.
Lead the technical design, development, testing, implementation, and support of key projects in data visualization, dashboards & reporting using analytical software like Spotfire, Tableau, IBM Cognos, MicroStrategy, etc
Acts as a Service Owner accountable for scientific data platform, integrations, steady state run activities and data generated by platform
Partners in developing the overall strategic direction, vision and standards around the Reporting Service for the Global Medical function
Provide advice and support to project teams (project managers, architects, business analysts, and developers) on tools, technology, and methodology related to the design and development of analytical solutions.
Define the architecture and technical roadmaps that align with the BI & Reporting strategy.
Prepare and maintain communication materials like roadmaps, position papers, presentations, demos, playbooks and socialize the materials with our business clients and partner IS services.
Maintain knowledge of market trends and developments in search and related emerging technologies to provide recommendations and deliver best practice solutions.
Collaborate with business partners and business analysts to translate business requirements into technical requirements.
Assist with estimating level of effort and hours required for each phase of a project.
Ensure projects and deliverables are completed on time and within budget.
Deliver results in an environment consisting of diverse global and matrixed partners; including non-dedicated resources.
Effectively manage relationships with internal business partners, service partners, and vendors
Partners with business clients to develop and coordinate service level agreements, provide service KPIs and ensure ongoing application stability
Master's degree and 3 years of Information Systems experience
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Information Systems experience
Associate's degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience
4+ years of healthcare industry experience focused on analytics, business intelligence, reporting or data management
Hands-on experience in architecting BI & Reporting solutions using at-least two of the following technologies - Spotfire, Tableau, IBM Cognos, MicroStrategy etc
Knowledge of advanced analytics, predictive modeling and machine learning
Ability to think strategically about technology and recommend solutions that align with business strategy and achieve the greatest business impact
Penchant to learn about new technology innovation and creativity in applying to business problems
Deep understanding of Agile methodologies and Lean Startup principles
Experience supporting SFDC, Veeva CRM and Datavision platforms
Ability to work in a startup-like environment with little supervision.
Ability to work in either a pure development role, or helping architect and design a solution, or act as a lead managing a development team.
Ability to effectively present information for all levels, and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers
Ability to work in a changing environment, under pressure, handing multiple projects at once
Strong project management, scheduling, and requirements management skills and experience
Experience developing and managing systems related to medical publications management, customer service and call center, and medical information management.
Experience with global computer system validation and regulatory requirements (e.g., 21 CFR Part 11); understanding of health care compliance requirements and principles.
Experience with or working knowledge of LEAN/AGILE software development methodologies.
Strong communication skills to communicate fluently across and up through organization, including escalation and mitigation of issues, risks and business impacts
Experience with IS technologies and processes
