Amgen Global Medical Affairs Senior Manager, Solid Tumors in Thousand Oaks, California

Amgen is seeking a Global Medical Affairs Senior Manager, Solid Tumors to support the Global Medical Affairs strategy for Amgen's Solid Tumor Oncology portfolio and pipeline. This role will support medical strategy for solid tumor early assets and marketed products and will work with the cross-functional teams responsible for advancing Amgen's portfolio of molecules against solid-tumors. The Senior Manager will support the Global Medical Affairs Lead in execution of global product strategy and collaborate with regional product leads in the implementation of global medical strategy.

The Global Medical Affairs Teams are responsible for developing the medical strategies for evidence generation, scientific communication, and external engagement. In addition, this role will support marketed products within the Oncology Solid Tumor Platform.

The portfolio of products in the Solid Tumor platform incude the oncolytic virus Talimogene Laherparepvec (Imlygic), licenced globally as monotherapy for treatment of advanced melanoma; Denosumab (XGEVA) for prevention of skeletal-related events in patients with multiple myeloma and in patients with bone metastases from solid tumors, treatment of adults and skeletally mature adolescents with giant cell tumor of bone that is unresectable or where surgical resection is likely to result in severe morbidity, and treatment of hypercalcemia of malignancy refractory to bisphosphonate therapy; Panitumumab (Vectibix) for the treatment of metastatic colon cancer; and early and mid-stage molecular targets directed against prostate cancer, NSCLC, SCLC, breast cancer and glioblastoma based on diverse modalities including BiTES, ADC conjugates, and CAR-T. This position will play a critical role in supporting the global medical strategies for a number of these assets.

The Global Medical Affairs Senior Manager - Solid Tumor is responsible for:

  • Supporting development of the global medical strategies for assets within the Amgen's Solid Tumor portfolio and pipeline in partnership with cross-functional teams, including Global Development, Commercial, and other stakeholders

  • Supporting development and implementation of external stakeholder engagement strategy, core content, publication strategies/plans, medical educational strategy, and medical insights

  • Ensure effective delivery of external stakeholder engagement, communication (e.g., clinical narrative framework, scientific platform, core content, congresses, and publications), evidence generation, and medical education

  • Continuing to enhance Amgen's reputation as a science-based, patient-focused partner

Basic Qualifications

M.D. degree, DO degree, PharmD, or PhD

AND

2 years of experience in Medical Affairs

Preferred Qualifications

  • MD plus accredited fellowship in Oncology or related medical discipline, board certified, or board eligible

  • Masters and 2 years of complex medical science experience in industry or research

  • Extensive experience in the Oncology therapeutic area

  • 2 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry (biotech, pharmaceutical or CRO), including Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, or Clinical Study Management

  • 2 years of specific Medical Affairs experience that includes collaborations with integrated delivery networks, accountable care organizations, and/or payers

  • 2+ years of clinical research experience and/or basic science combined with clinical teaching and patient care activities

  • Extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical product development, product lifecycle, and commercialization processes, including but not limited to, clinical operations, commercial, regulatory affairs, drug safety, and medical affairs

  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and global regulations and guidelines

  • Experience in a product launch environment

  • Finance, budgeting, and resource management experience

  • History of solving problems while exhibiting superior judgment and a balanced, realistic understanding of issues
