Amgen Executive Director, Marketing in Thousand Oaks, California

As the Executive Director, Marketing for Neulasta®, Neupogen® and Aranesp® in the US, you will be responsible for all aspects of the commercial marketing and execution. In this role you will be the leading the three commercial brands. Neulasta and Neupogen are long and short-acting colony-stimulating factor biologics that are used to reduce the rate of febrile neutropenia in patients receiving myelosuppressive chemotherapy. Aranesp is an erythropoiesis-stimulating protein used to treat a lower than normal number of red blood cells (anemia) in patients with chronic kidney disease or in patients that have anemia associated with chemotherapy induced anemia. This individual will be integral in leading the marketing team to establish and execute the brand's objectives and ensuring appropriate patients receive these products. In addition to providing US commercial leadership for the approved indications, this individual will also have responsibility for all aspects of brand planning to ensure the continued growth year-on-year and seamless communication and collaboration with the field sales organization.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leadership: Develop and maintain a network of national physician and patient opinion leader partners for both products and disease states.

  • Talent development: recruit, retain, and develop local and regional marketing team of the highest caliber in oncology/ hematology.

Contracting: execute current strategy and adjust as the market changes over the next 18-24 months.

  • Results: ensure that all financial (sales projections and profit contributions) and non‐financial (including label management) goals are met. Communicate expectations, report progress, and deliver commercial results.

  • Situation analysis and brand plan leadership which includes product strategy, strategic imperatives, behavioral objectives, competitive analysis/tracking and tactics with associated budget and resource needs

  • Communicate the US vision and strategies throughout the organization

  • Develop and maintain excellent internal cross‐functional relationships with relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment with brand goals and growth drivers and hold counterparts accountable

  • Oversee execution of the tactical plan to ensure initiatives appropriately drive utilization

  • Integrate innovative personal and non‐personal vehicles to maximize message delivery

  • Partner with Regulatory promotions and MAC in all aspects including product label management

  • Lead a focused marketing organization to ensure message execution is consistent over time, compliant with legal and regulatory, reflects market insights, engages field, and addresses payer/policy issues.

  • Deliver brand objectives through the efficient utilization of sales force; partner with field leadership on the establishment of the POA and coordinate with training at Semester meetings to ensure field comprehension of promotional messages.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree & 6 years of Sales & Marketing experience OR

  • Master's degree & 10 years of Sales & Marketing experience years OR

  • Bachelor's degree & 12 years of Sales & Marketing experience AND

  • 6 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10 years of pharmaceutical industry experience with focus on marketing or sales including developing market strategies and executing tactics, and responsibility for revenues

  • Previous experience in Oncology

  • Track record of increasing responsibility within marketing

  • Previous experience as a District Manager

  • Previous experience with data and specialty pharmacy agreements

  • Previous experience with Development and Regulatory on Product Labels

  • Ability to understand, interpret and communicate commercial and competitive implications of complex technical/clinical/regulatory data

  • High comfort level with clinical data and ability to interact with R&D colleagues on scientific issues

  • Ability to lead and influence cross functional teams with diverse backgrounds

  • Written, analytical and oral communication skills

  • Understanding of life-cycle management as well as cross-functional leadership and collaboration skills

  • Ability to deliver state of the business updates and overall strategic direction to senior leadership as well as the sales force

  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills

  • Expertise in the development and & execution of innovative marketing campaigns which have yielded proven results

  • Supervisory management experience
