Amgen Director of Market Access Intelligence & Analysis in Thousand Oaks, California

The Director of Market Access Intelligence & Analysis is responsible for providing actionable intelligence and insightful, reference-based analysis that supports Amgen USBO strategic payer and reimbursement business decisions and improves Amgen's competitive position. The Director of Market Access Intelligence & Analysis reports directly to the VP US Reimbursement, Value and Access (USVA) and Payer Strategy and the position is located at Amgen's US headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Assist senior USVA leadership to identify key payer/market access trends and topics for further exploration

  • Manage and perform key customer sector (i.e. Commercial Insurers, Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBM), Integrated Health Systems and other emerging healthcare corporate/organized players) intelligence analysis

  • Leverages collections of secondary and primary data for use in business intelligence analysis

  • Mine internal data for relevant correlations and opportunities to improve competitiveness

  • Provide objective perspectives on competitors including insight into trends, tactics, and operations

  • Draft concise, actionable intelligence reports

  • Develop action plans and analytical approaches for addressing key intelligence topics

Basic Qualifications:

  • Doctorate degree and 4 years of marketing, strategy, consulting and/or analytics experience

  • Master's degree and 7 years of marketing, strategy, consulting and/or analytics experience

  • Bachelor's degree and 9 years of marketing, strategy, consulting and/or analytics experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in marketing, economics, finance or technical discipline (engineering, etc.)

  • Deep healthcare insurance, PBM or healthcare systems experience

  • Strategy, market or competitive intelligence working for or consulting with key customer sector groups (i.e. Commercial Insurers, PBM's, Integrated Health Systems and other emerging healthcare corporate/organized players).

  • Ability to translate complex analysis and topics into digestible oral and written communications

  • Knowledge of competitive intelligence processes

  • Proven experience in understanding critical factors, asking the right questions, and uncovering key issues and drivers

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving ability

  • Strong intellectual and business acumen

  • Excellent collaboration skills
