Amgen ServiceNow Architect / Lead Developer for Information Systems (IS) in Tampa, Florida

Amgen is seeking an Architect / Lead Developer for Information Systems (IS) within the Enterprise Service Management (ESM) Platform team. The Architect/Lead Developer will report to the Senior Manager IS - ESM Platforms - ServiceNow and will work out of Amgen's Capability Center in Tampa, FL. This Architect / Lead Developer will use depth of experience to act as a thought leader regarding ServiceNow. The incumbent will assure delivery of successful deployments of ServiceNow and be at the forefront of new features and capabilities of the ServiceNow suite of enterprise applications. The role requires leading and / or participating in proof of concepts and feasibility analysis workshops to architect and design solutions using the ServiceNow platform, in addition to leading the development of new capabilities and enhancements to the platform.

The ESM - Platform team focuses on managing all aspects of Amgen's key service management system ServiceNow. Responsibilities include strategic road mapping for 30+ business services and architecture with our key SaaS provider ServiceNow which underpin key services at Amgen. The ESM - Platforms Team closely cooperates with other teams such as Global Business Services (GBS) Technology, IS Service Owners, Quality, and strategic external partners.

Key Activities of the ServiceNow Architect / Lead Developer includes:

  • Demonstrates expert knowledge of ServiceNow toolset and integrations with related systems

  • Creates, documents, and evangelizes ServiceNow configuration, design, development, and integration; communicates best practices/frameworks

  • Communicates with the customer in non-technical terms, understands their requirements and guides developers with suitable solutions

  • Documents architectural solutions in a clear and accurate manner

  • Participates in change or architecture review boards in reviewing proposed changes or solutions

  • Leads and provides design for, but not limited to: screen tailoring, workflow administration, portal design, application & data integration, custom scripting

  • Builds the long-term strategic roadmap for ServiceNow solutions

  • Reviews and recommends where ServiceNow platform fits into the enterprise architecture roadmap

  • Drives and provides architecture review and assessment of enhancements within the ServiceNow platform

  • Develops solutions across the ServiceNow platform to utilize automation and integration capabilities of ServiceNow, focused on leveraging business services with out of the box capabilities

  • Software Architect with experience developing, releasing, and maintaining software solutions (web, backend, and mobile), and interested in applying technology to make a difference in patient lives

  • Expert-level knowledge of Cloud services, PaaS and application of those services

  • Leader in technical coaching and best practice recommendations for junior developers

  • Work with cross-functional team in an agile and fast-paced development environment to review user stories and tasks

  • Demonstrated leader with team-oriented interpersonal skills; ability to effectively interface with a broad range of people and roles

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • 10% domestic travel can be expected

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of ServiceNow and/or Information Systems experience

OR

Master's degree and 4 years of ServiceNow and/or Information Systems experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of ServiceNow and/or Information Systems experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of ServiceNow and/or Information Systems experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of ServiceNow and/or Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5+ years' experience with proven ServiceNow implementation and development experience

  • 3+ years' experience working in a highly agile (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban) environment

  • Experience in all aspects of SDLC from requirements, design, and testing to support

  • Experience with ITIL and Service Management

  • ITIL V3 Foundations Certificate

  • Track-record of developing large-scale, multi-tier applications

  • ServiceNow Systems Administrator and Developer in ServiceNow, including: Incident Management, Change Management, Asset Management and Problem Management modules, CMDB, Asset management, and various CMS features

  • In-depth expertise with CMS/CMDB, including discovery management of cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Google, ... ) with experience in on-premise and network discovery

  • Responsible for the design of CMDB Discovery activities including pattern development, probes and sensors; and oversight of monitoring discovery issues

  • Experience implementing Service Catalog, CMS, MID Server, Integrations with LDAP, OKTA, VPN, SSL and other technologies related to ServiceNow

  • Experience in back-end integration, web services and Cloud interfacing (e.g. JSON, XML, RESTful interfacing)

  • Experience with web technologies such as AngularJS, Node.js, HTML5, CSS, and JavaScript

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and consult including providing options with pros, cons and risks around key technical decisions during design and implementation

  • Ability to 'think big' and challenge conventional wisdom regarding technology refresh and hype

  • Comfortable with ambiguity and willing to take principled bets on new technology

  • Strong presentation skills, interpersonal skills, verbal and written communications skills

  • Self-motivation, exemplifying a positive can-do attitude and willingness to learn

  • Forward thinking, assertive, and ability to focus on finding and developing unique opportunities to create value by enabling and engaging in creative dialogue with various key stakeholders

  • Previous experience working in a highly collaborative and culturally diverse environment
