Amgen MuleSoft API Architect (Enterprise Architecture) in Tampa, Florida

Amgen is seeking an API Architect who will be based onsite in Tampa, FL, at Amgen's new Capability Center next generation workspace. At Amgen, our mission is simple: to serve patients. This state-of-the art center serves as a base for finance, information systems, and human resources professionals to make a meaningful impact at one of the world's leading biotechnology companies.

This position is directly related to Amgen's deployment of the MuleSoft Anypoint hybrid iPaaS infrastructure. Functioning as a Principal IS Architect, the API Architect provides a critical transformational role that will help Amgen move from a project-based integration approach to a modern API led approach. The API Architect will develop the strategy and framework and be a liaison between Amgen's integration platform team and project teams to help with enablement, adoption and alignment with Amgen's new API led integration approach. The API architect will work in the Center for Enablement (C4E) as part of a dedicated Mulesoft Product team to develop artifacts such as templates and patterns (both theoretical and concrete implementations in Anypoint) and provide technical expertise to Business Analysts to promote API reuse and realize the Amgen Application Network.

Key Activities for a Principal IS Architect include:

Own creation and deployment of API led design strategy, API usage framework, and project team API enablement guidance as a core member of the Amgen Integration Center for Enablement. Steward Amgen's 'Anypoint API Exchange' ensuring that project teams are actively contributing and consuming API assets and establish governance guidelines to curate the assets Product owner for 'core' APIs - common APIs and API policies used by apps for logging, authentication, security, error recovery etc.

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of experience OR

Master's degree and 4 years of Information Systems experience OR

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of Information Systems experience OR

Associate degree and 10 years of Information Systems OR

High school diploma/GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Comfortable with Agile and SDLC methodologies

  • Java EE including (Web Services, REST, JPA, Spring, OSGi) Or .Net framework + Visual studio + C#

  • Multi Database Experience Object, Relational, Graph and NOSQL (SQL server /Oracle /MySQL /MongoDB /Cassandra /Hadoop)

  • SOA, EDA (event driven architecture) and EAI (enterprise application integration) Design patterns.

  • JavaScript (NodeJS, ReactJS, AngularJS, Ionic), HTML5, CSS3

  • Knowledge and experience with CI/CD tools Jenkins, Maven, Jira, ServiceNow, GitHub, Release Management

  • Deep knowledge and hands-on experience in MuleSoft or other API management platform and API related activities: requirement analysis, solution architecture and design, resource-based API modeling, micro-services architecture

  • Knowledge about API design standards, patterns and best-practices esp. RAML, Swagger and OpenAPI 3.0, REST SOAP, MQ, JDBC, MQTT, SFTP, HL7, X.12 JAX-RS, JSON, Microservices,

  • Deep knowledge and hands-on experience in API security standards and implementation (Active Directory Federation, LDAP, OAuth 2.0, OpenID, SAML, ClientID/Secret)

  • Proven track record of acting as SME for API projects

  • Knowledge and experience designing and implementing API Governance

  • Full-Stack Engineering vision: ability to leverage breadth of experience and knowledge to architect and design solutions

  • Leadership experience in architecting, developing and deploying enterprise class solutions in life sciences/healthcare industry

  • Excellent communications skills - ability to engage in deep technical discussions with project teams and peers and become a trusted technical advisor

  • 6+ years of experience as both a hands-on architect and a software engineer in the following domains:

  • Fully conversant with Cloud infrastructure - AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, SaaS, iPaaS, HADR in the cloud, Region, Availability Zone, VPC, workaround for internet connectivity failure.

  • Test capability SOAUPUI, Mocha, Chai, HP ALM, UFT, Selenium, MUnit, Wireshark, Postman
