Amgen's Therapeutic Discovery organization is seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate Scientist to join the Protein Technology group in the Therapeutic Discovery organization in South San Francisco. The Protein Technology group generates key enabling reagents for small and large molecule therapeutics and cutting-edge novel modalities to supports Amgen's discovery-stage pipeline, and interacts closely with Therapeutic Areas, and other functional groups.
The successful candidate will join the Molecular Biology function and is expected to apply comprehensive molecular biology techniques (e.g., modeling, protein engineering, construct design, cloning) to generate DNA constructs for immunization, protein expression and assays. The successful candidate's responsibilities will include: (a) independently design constructs; (b) clone large panel of engineered proteins and novel constructs for multiple projects; (c) interact closely with and hand off gene constructs to the downstream stakeholders. In addition, small scale expression, purification and functional testing of protein panels is desired.
Master's degree and 3 years of scientific experience
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of scientific experience
Expertise in construct design, cloning, and vector engineering for recombinant protein expression
Expertise in high throughput cloning, antibody engineering, or automation
Broad training in Molecular Biology, or Biochemistry, or Cell Biology
Experience in protein modeling, display technologies, expression, or purification
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work flexibly in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment
