Amgen Scientist - CryoEM in South San Francisco, California

We are building upon our solid oncology foundation and long-term commitment to patients by developing a whole new class of novel molecules - and we need top talent to ensure these molecules become medicines and realize their potential for helping patients.

The Therapeutic Discovery Organization at Amgen is expanding cryo-EM capabilities to support the drug discovery pipeline. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented cryo-EM scientist to join the Structural Biology Group at the South San Francisco site. The Structural Biology group provides comprehensive structural analysis and structure-based design for drug targets assessment, mechanism of action, protein-protein and protein-ligand interactions, as well as protein engineering to facilitate drug discovery across all therapeutic areas at Amgen. The successful candidate will be able to directly contribute to the exciting drug discovery process through structural studies on a wide variety of important targets, including therapeutic antibodies and integral membrane proteins.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading projects through the entire workflow of single particle cryo-EM analysis, including protein chemistry. The candidate will be working closely with molecular biologists and protein biochemists in the protein expression group. The candidate will also interact directly with both small molecule and large molecule scientists including computational scientists, medicinal chemists, and protein engineers. The candidate must be flexible to be able to apply her/his knowledge to new areas of study, thrive in a highly collaborative environment with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
