Amgen is seeking a hands-on dynamic molecular pathology research scientist to lead its Pathology Laboratory team as Director to work in the Department of Comparative Biology and Safety Sciences (CBSS) at our South San Francisco, CA location.
The Director will have a strong background in the development and utilization of molecular pathology tools to aid drug discovery and development. The Director will lead our pathology laboratory team in identifying and validating new drug targets, developing critical biomarker tools and evaluate efficacy in relevant preclinical models.
Oversee development of project specific IHC, Immunofluorescence, in situ hybridization assays
Integrate image analysis capabilities and automation
Oversee day to day operation of well-equipped molecular pathology laboratory and balancing portfolio priorities.
Collaborate with therapeutic discovery areas on assay and biomarker development
Manage and develop pathology laboratory team
Utilize and/or development of techniques such has immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, laser capture microdissection, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy and other multiplexing methods
Ph.D., MD, or DVM
Training/Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology
Experience with internally developed unique target specific antibody campaigns and implementation of image analysis systems producing effective and objective approaches for evaluation of drug discovery programs
Demonstrated experience in Bio-Pharma drug discovery and development with molecular pathology tools to help define disease pathophysiology driving go-no go decisions
10+ years experience leading a team in biomarker discovery and molecular pathology assay development
