Mid-West RAE Position, Territory Chicago

The Regional Account Executive (RAE) position resides within the Organized Customer Team, a division of AMGEN's US Value and Access Organization.

The Regional Account Executive is responsible for the development, and implementation of strategies designed to secure appropriate coverage and access for AMGEN portfolio products in the Chicago healthcare markets.

In this role, the Regional Account Executive (RAE) will develop and maintain strategic relationships with 'Organized Customers' who make product selection and access decisions, with an emphasis on value. Primary customers include: Pharmacy Executives, Payors, PBMs, professionals focused on Pharmacoeconomics, Medical Directors, Quality Directors, Executive decision-makers within Integrated Delivery Networks, Regional Specialty Pharmacies, Accountable Care Organizations, and various Organized Customer Models operating within the territory. Regional Account Executives will demonstrate top-down strategic plan development and coordination with cross-business unit (BU) sales and account teams in order to enable pull-through for Amgen's corporate initiatives and product portfolio to achieve sales objectives. RAEs will also be responsible for driving and coordinating segment specific initiatives and programs through the team selling process, coordinating with marketing to develop customer specific value added programs, and maintaining and growing key executive relationships. RAEs will maintain customer profiles, communicate organizational changes, monitor/manage the competitive environment in accounts, and coordinate with relevant commercial and medical team members.

Additional responsibilities include:

  1. Adherence to all compliance rules and regulations

  2. Execute POA and accurately capture field activity within sales reporting systems

  3. Effectively deliver Brand specific messages

  4. Develop and implement account specific business plans

  5. Analyze sales trends, and interpret customer performance

  6. Participate in training as required

  7. Provide feedback on marketing strategies

Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree & 2 years of Sales or Access/Reimbursement experience


Master's degree & 6 years of Sales or Access/Reimbursement experience


Bachelor's degree & 8 years of Sales or Access/Reimbursement experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree, e.g. MBA, MPH, Pharm D

  • Account Management and District Manager experience preferred

  • Corporate Accounts, Access/Reimbursement, Quality and Value experience preferred

  • Successful candidates will possess the ability to develop, implement and coordinate strategic initiatives with cross functional Business Units to successfully enable access and demand creation in key accounts.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience presenting to Senior Leadership

  • A proven track record of access creation in managed markets

  • Negotiation skills and analytical skills/business acumen

  • Ability to analyze and interpret customer needs to successfully navigate through the healthcare environment

  • Possess a working knowledge of the business in the geography and possess existing relationships with key organized customers
