Amgen Senior Associate Molecular/Cellular Biology and Safety Biomarkers in Cambridge, Massachusetts
As part of our commitment to bring safe and transformative medicines to patients, we are expanding our innovative Translational Systems Biology group at Amgen. Our mission is to ensure that the drugs we develop are safe for our patients. To achieve this, we are applying a variety of human-focused in vitro approaches including stem cell modelling, human genetics, and biomarker discovery to develop novel assays that can predict or elucidate mechanisms leading to drug safety issues. In addition to working broadly to support pipeline projects, we are also developing novel methodologies for assessing the safety of our drug targets in human systems with the long-term goal of being able to focus our future regulatory studies in this area.
We are seeking a talented and versatile Senior Associate with expertise in molecular biology and biochemistry, 'omics technologies and biomarker discovery/validation to join our group.
Design, manage and perform wet lab experiments focused on biomarker discovery and assay development using targeted (e.g. ELISA, flow cytometry) and untargeted (various 'omics technologies e.g. metabolomics, proteomics or transcriptomics) approaches
Design and execute experiments focused on the molecular understanding of safety-relevant phenotypes and targets using a variety of platforms (e.g. biochemical and cellular assays)
Generate high quality data analysis, interpretation, accurate report and presentation
Investigate novel platforms and technologies that can contribute to understanding the biology underpinning drug safety
Master's Degree or Master's degree completed by June 2018
Bachelor's degree and 2 years of scientific experience
Master's degree in molecular or cellular biology, biochemistry with more than 2 years of scientific experience
Strong molecular biology and biochemistry skills including ddPCR/qPCR, ELISA, flow cytometry, Western blotting, etc.
Experience in performing 'omics experiments such as proteomics, genomics or transcriptomics
Familiarity with mammalian cell culture methods e.g. Human iPSC culture and gene editing
Proficient in analysis of large, quantitative data sets
Laboratory experience in biomarker discovery or assay development
Ability to work independently on experimental design and execution
Comfort in working in a highly interactive environment, keen learner with a passion for teamwork
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to follow lab protocols and regulations
