At Amgen Breda, The Netherlands, we focus on the packaging and distribution part of the drugs we have developed which are produced at our international sites. The packaging and distribution is supported by the Operations, Customer Service and Demand, Information Systems and Quality departments.

The site also supports a sales organization.

Process Development, Operations and Quality (POQ) are the core divisions of Amgen that make sure the drugs are delivered to our patients. Made up of seven functions and spread across seven sites, POQ's aspiration is simple: Supply every patient, every time!

As the new Accounting Manager Intercontinental you perform accounting and controlling activities for Amgen affiliates in the TMEA region to ensure accurate and timely group reporting. This role will be responsible for timely and efficient use of accounting system(s), to harmonize and improve current accounting practices in line with International and Corporate Accounting Guidance, support local finance and build strong business working relationships.

Responsibilities e.g.:

  • Responsible for accurate, complete and timely monthly and quarterly accounting close;

  • Use and review of month-end accounting checklist;

  • Responsible for review of manual journal entries posted by our outsource partner accounting staff;

  • Responsible for the preparation of the account analyses;

  • Review of trial balance and account reconciliations;

  • Ensure compliance to US GAAP accounting requirements, including reconciliation between Amgen US GAAP books and statutory books;

  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of Close documentation for the region;

  • Support annual International Internal Control Certification process.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in accounting or finance;

  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting experience;

  • Solid understanding of US GAAP or IFRS;

  • Experience in Public Accounting; preferably Big 4 or any International accounting firm;

  • MS Office experience;

  • Strong English language skills.

Preferred Requirements:

  • MBA or other relevant Master degree;

  • Certification - CPA or Chartered Accountant, or local equivalent;

  • Experience with ERP systems, SAP experience is a plus;

  • Local GAAP or IFRS knowledge;

  • Leading virtual teams;

  • Experience in a Pharmaceutical Industry;

  • Experience with SOX Compliance.

In this role you contribute to the department by ensuring quality of tasks/services provided by self and others. You build, use and maintain strong relationships to identify requirements and potential opportunities. You provides training, guidance and advice to Amgen affiliates in the TMEA region. And you extend capabilities by working closely with senior staff/experts within and outside the internal organization.
