What will you do

This paralegal will be primarily responsible for corporate secretarial, legal workstream coordination and complex administrative support activities for the JAPAC Regional Law department, and other staff in the law department on a needs-basis.

The role of the paralegal is to perform a variety of complex support activities; to assist in report generation as requested; to facilitate tracking of deliverables and timelines as directed; and to manage the coordination of meeting logistics, minutes and other duties as assigned.

This paralegal would report to the SEA Head of Law in Hong Kong and join a JAPAC regional Law Group of 12 other lawyers, paralegals and administrative coordinators based in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Seoul, Sydney, Taipei and Tokyo. Corporate Secretarial

Corporate secretarial workstream will primarily include maintenance of corporate documents for Amgen’s legal entities in JAPAC region and may extend to review and coordination of Annual General Meeting Minutes, Annual Financial Statements, Annual Reports amongst others.

Project Management & General Administration

Paralegal activities may also include triaging to Law inquiries and providing guidance to internal stakeholders on templates, internal governance requirements, managing budget and external counsel billings for JAPAC Law department and overseeing filings of corporate documents and material agreements on Amgen Law departments’ internal systems.

The paralegal will also be expected to provide routine administrative support to JAPAC Regional General Counsel and SEA Head of Law such as managing individual and team calendars, scheduling meetings, arranging purchase orders and making travel arrangements and preparing expense reports as requested.

What we expect of you

Basic Qualifications

5+ years of paralegal practice at a top law firm, corporate law department, or a combination of both;

Fluency in English required;

Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

Outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills;

Strong interpersonal skills, judgment, maturity and flexibility supporting multiple team members at different levels;

Meticulous attention to detail and creative problem-solver with an enthusiastic and proactive approach to their work;

Managing multiple calendars including coordination across multiple time zones;

Ability to operate both independently and as part of a larger in-house legal team;

Discretion in dealing with proprietary information.

Preferred Qualifications

Law or paralegal credentials;

Strong preference for experience at a corporate secretarial service provider, or experience as paralegal working in a legal department of a multi-national company in the biopharmaceuticals (ideally) or healthcare sector (otherwise);

Strong command/ fluency in an Asian language;

General understanding in company law and the laws and regulations in ASEAN countries;

Management of outside counsel engagements and department budgets.
